Thing 8 - Take 2

Here is my Delicious Account. I don't know if this link will allow you to view my pages, but if it doesn't, comment and I will send the right one. Enjoy!!

Thing 6 - Take 2

Podcasts and videos can be very beneficial in the classroom. I listened to many different speakers in my classes...most of which were very comical. There were also many that were great examples to what we were talking about. We were talking about building a brand this month and it was good to be able to see the different brands out there and where they came from and where they have been. It was easier to learn actually seeing it than it would have been just hearing about it.

This could be a good educational tool for students. The kids in my class are always on YouTube. This seems to be the only thing all of them get on anytime they have spare time. I don't really understand the fascination with that, but I guess they enjoy it. I have noticed also that they are always looking for unusual, funny, or different things. Videos could be used to inform students of different subjects to talk about in class, but you want to make sure it is a unique message. Have it be funny, or involve different types of presentation. They will be just as bored with a video if it is someone just standing in front of the camera as they would listening to boring material in class.

Use it to your advantage though. Any visual that is interesting and catches the attention of the audience is bound to teach them something.

Thing 4 - Take 2

Here is my picture from Flickr. It took awhile to find it because there are so many pics that are not shared. I like Flickr. They have a lot of pics that are unique and inventive. I like looking through them and seeing what all is there. You do have to be careful though, because not all pictures are open to everyone.

Picture sites can be useful in class as references. Show students different things and ideas that relate to the material being presented. Also, like was said about the collage program, it could be used as an example program for student projects. We do collages in my class with different photos and it could be used to introduce different types of collages. These types of sites are always good to reference to in my Digital Graphics class.

Thing 1 - Take 2

The blogs were good that I looked at. It was interesting to see who all got involved in the course and how much they knew or learned throughout the course. I also liked reading some of the information and seeing how others view the different types of technology that were available and what they learned. It would be good to use the blogs in the classroom to get the kids to put more of their emotions and thoughts down for others to read. They may feel more comfortable writing it in a blog rather than talking to someone about it.

Thing 8

Started a new Delicious account. I am currently (newly) working on an Apple computer. It has taken some getting used to. Bookmarks has been a big thing for me. I like being able to go directly to the sites that I use on a regular basis. This is a good way to organize everything, especially if you are as crazy as I am about getting everything organized. It is also good because you can access it from anywhere. Sometimes there are favorites that I save at home that I don't remember when I am at school, and then there are times when I am at home and need a favorite that I had saved at school. This makes it easy because you can save it all to the same place and access it anywhere. Others can also have access and that is good if you are trying to get information to your students or want to give them some websites that you use on a regular basis. Students can also add their info on there and everyone else can see what each other is looking at from time to time.

Thing 7

Google Docs is awesome!! In my 2nd online course, we used Google Docs to work on some projects for the class, it was more group focused. It was great to be able to get on the site and work on one document at the same time. Lowered the amount of time taken to work on the document and eliminated the need to email a document back and forth to each other and other teammates. This is really a good thing to incorporate into the classroom in many ways. Especially with group work. Good resource.
